  2.            INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
  3.  
  4. The information on the child is an ASCII text file. It can
  5. be loaded and read by almost any word processor including
  6. the DOS EDIT command.
  7.  
  8. If you wish a hardcopy (printed) version of the file, just
  9. press the letter  P  on your keyboard while the file is
  10. displaying on your computer screen. This must be done
  11. BEFORE you press the [Esc] key. The [Esc] key "freezes"
  12. the text and disables the print function.
  13.  
  14. The image of the child is in PCX format. This is arguably
  15. the most popular graphics format and is supported by
  16. virtually every graphics program on the market.
  17.  
  18. The easiest way to print the child's graphic is to
  19. "double-click" on the accessories icon in Windows. Then
  20. "double-click" on the PAINT icon to open the PAINT program
  21. that is included with Windows.
  22.  
  23. In the PAINT menu click on "File." Then click on "Open"
  24. and then click on the necessary drive. If the KIDDisk was
  25. brought in on a floppy, you would usually click on drive
  26. A: and then click on the CHILD.PCX. Either "double-click"
  27. on it or select it and then select Open.

  29. This will bring the graphic on screen. You now simply
  30. select "File" and then "Print" to get a hard copy of the
  31. child's image. You may have to increase the scale of the
  32. printout, this is a small box in the lower right hand
  33. corner of the box that opens when you select "PRINT."
  34. It will usually read: Scaling: 100%. Just change it to
  35. read  Scaling: 300% or even 500% depending on your
  36. system.

  38. If you have fax capabilities on your computer, most fax
  39. programs support PCX files. Just select the CHILD.PCX file
  40. from your fax program's menu and then send like any other
  41. document.

  45. program supports for the highest quality graphics
  46. reproduction.

  49. In some programs you may "Print" to fax. This means that
  50. you can click on "Printer Setup" from the file menu and
  51. then choose your fax program as the printer. You then just
  52. click on "Print" and the graphic will be faxed to your
  53. specified destination.

  55. The description file can also be faxed right from your
  56. machine by selecting it to "Print to Fax." The name of the
  57. text file that describes the child is called KIDSFRM.TXT
